Ribbons as a metaphor
Labyrinth Carceri Demo » Devlog

Colors are an essential part of any visual medium, even the choice to omit them can be incredibly meaningful in its own right. For the development of Labyrinth Carceri, I've decided to use colors as a metaphor for character growth.
Throughout the game, the player will have a handful of key choices that set them on different paths - not just gameplay and storywise, but also for Reaper as a character. As such, the iconic ribbon Reaper wears will change as the game goes on. Each ribbon is associated with a different ending, and each color stands as a metaphor in it's own right. Got any guesses as to the meaning of each?
Besides, a good way to symbolize someones loyalty is by a literal knot tied around their neck - like a leash or collar. But then it begs the question: Who is the one giving orders? ;)

Maybe someone not nearly as intimidating as you think!
